For many years the villa has been a much-loved meeting place for choral groups who come to share the peace of Le Tolfe. Groups and individuals enjoy singing lessons in the relaxed atmosphere. We offer several locations, allowing for larger group practise as well as soloists or master-classes in more intimate settings.
The medieval town of Siena is only 3 km away from La Torre alle Tolfe and is a worthwhile visit to all visitors of Tuscany. We can connect groups to our local guides, who can offer tours of the more popular sites as well as the lesser known secrets of Siena. The estate is also an excellent platform for visiting the beautiful surrounding areas of Tuscany such as the Val d’Orcia, Chianti Classico, Monteriggioni, Crete Senesi, the Via Francigena. We can inform our guests of special events in the area throughout the year, including the many sagre or festivals associated with feast-days or seasons such as the vendemmia (grape-harvest), and of course the Palio.
Siena’s most famous event, the Palio, is a bareback horserace which is run around the famous Piazza del Campo, in the centre of Siena. It takes place twice a year, in early-July and mid-August. The spirit of the Palio is in the blood of the Sienese and celebrations and events run throughout the year, so it is commonplace to stumble across feasts in the streets, or drumming and flag-throwing in any of the 17 Contrade (districts) which define the competition. Visitors at Le Tolfe may also see some of the Palio horses training through the hills and olive groves of the estate. The Palio theme continues in the villa itself, with each of the 17 bedrooms named after one of the contrade – with extraordinary and enchanting names such as Bruco (the caterpillar), Aquila (eagle), Leocorno (unicorn), and Chiocciola (snail).
Our immaculately presented and fully equipped kitchen has hosted cookery courses for up to 20 people. There is ample space for demonstrating, preparing and cooking. After the work, the guests can enjoy their culinary creations in the formal dining room or in a more relaxed setting, outdoors under the lecce trees.
With ample spaces both indoors and out, La Torre alle Tolfe is an inspirational place for yoga holidays. The idyllic and peaceful setting are inducive to focused relaxation and can be complemented with menus that incorporate healthly, local, organic foods, and can provide for vegetarian or other dietary choices.
At La Torre alle Tolfe we have been delighted to host many unforgettable weddings. It is a perfect setting, with ample spaces offering options both for the civil wedding service itself as well as the reception. Formal meals can be arranged indoors or outdoors, while other spaces, from the poolside to the shaded porticos, can be used for aperitifs, and for live music and dancing.
